The cornerstone of Travel Oregon's marketing plan is the media placement and partnership program that serves to promote Oregon as a premier travel destination. All of our marketing campaigns seek to increase the awareness and image of Oregon in a highly competitive travel marketplace and convert that interest to trips taken in Oregon. Our media plans, as well as our overall marketing programs, are informed by the extensive research conducted by the Commission on visitor demographics, trip attributes, and Oregon’s image and advertising accountability.
The strategic direction of Travel Oregon’s marketing communications plan has evolved during the 2009 – 2011 biennium. Travel Oregon introduced a two-pillar strategy, which focuses on two key niches during FY ‘09/’10:
- Fall 2009 was our culinary focused promotion, Oregon Bounty
- Spring 2010 promotes the state’s outdoor recreation experiences and is called The Oregon Adventurecation
Additionally, Travel Oregon has moved to a heavier online media mix to address the changing trends in consumer behavior/travel planning: more trips planned and purchased online, along with shorter planning cycles and last minute bookings.
