Domestic and Canada

Travel Oregon's domestic travel trade program is focused on increasing the number of packaged tours and independent travelers to Oregon from the U.S. as well as Canada.  While Canada is recognized as an international country, its proximity to Oregon, language, culture, ethnic backgrounds and travel interests support inclusion of Canada in the Domestic Travel Trade Marketing program.

"Packaged travel" is defined as a trip arranged by a travel professioal that includes at least two travel elements, such as transportation and accommodations.  Packaged travelers may travel independently (often referred as FIT) or as part of a group.  Over the past five years, traditional group packaged travel opportunities (i.e., senior sightseeing tours) have slightly decreased while other affinity groups (family, outdoor recreation, other niches) and FIT (hotel + car rental + activities) have increased.

Travel Oregon employs a travel trade manager who oversees the organization's domestic travel trade marketing efforts (as well as those in Canada and Mexico).  While the overall 2007-2009 goal continues to be to enhance economic impact from packaged travel in the state of Oregon, we are focusing our mission on marketing Oregon to sell specific product.
