Outdoor Recreation Development Update – March 2017

Welcome to the Inaugural Outdoor Recreation Development Update!

It’s an exciting time for outdoor recreation in Oregon. This month marked the official launch of the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Initiative, a new statewide effort that seeks to bring together businesses, agencies, land managers, conservation groups, and recreational user groups with the goal of expanding access to outdoor recreation and increasing the economic impact and sustainability of Oregon’s outdoor recreation industry.

In preparation for this launch Travel Oregon convened a leadership team comprised of 25 members that represent stakeholder groups from key sectors of the outdoor recreation economy and now we want to hear from you.

We invite you to join us at one of five statewide public outreach meetings (see details below). Across all of the work we do at Travel Oregon, we continue to receive feedback on the importance of a coordinated statewide effort to get more people outdoors while also protecting the natural assets that inspire them in the first place. We believe this new initiative is an important next step in those discussions.

We plan to use these email updates as a way to keep you informed on what’s happening at both state and national levels and what opportunities exist for you to grow your own role in the outdoor recreation industry.

Please feel free to contact Andrew Grossmann with any questions about Travel Oregon’s outdoor recreation programming. We look forward to working with you to build a better life for Oregonians through travel.
