It is no secret that listing management in the travel industry is fragmented and a bit cumbersome. Destination Management Organizations (DMO) across the state have their own unique data solutions and content management systems (CMS). And while it is beneficial to businesses to be listed on DMO websites, this model is self-serving. With the lion’s share of search happening in Google’s ecosystem, it is imperative for businesses to be surfaced there first.

Why This Matters:
The primary goal of the Oregon Tourism Information System (OTIS) is to help unify and streamline tourism listing management (e.g. events, points of interest, businesses, etc.) for Oregon DMOs. However, we are always looking for ways to add value for partners who use OTIS. This is typically in the form of trusted content partnerships, like:
- Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association who helps power lodging data in OTIS and the Places to Stay listings in both Travel Oregon’s annual print visitor and website.
- Oregon Wine Board who helps power the wine-related data in OTIS and on TravelOregon.com.
- Oregon State Marine Board who helps power the guides, charters and outfitter data in OTIS and on TravelOregon.com.
We are thrilled to be able to use updates, made by Oregon businesses and stored in Locl, for use in OTIS. This means any partner using OTIS to power their website will benefit from these updates – for free.
