Bicycle Tourism

Attendees of the Polk County Tourism Studio identified bicycle tourism as a priority impact area for the destination. Initial project work began with the desire to showcase the region’s signature assets and activities across multiple channels.

Key project highlights include:

1. Creation of a 2-minute video showcasing bicycling routes, amenities, culinary offerings and natural beauty of Polk County
2. Recruitment of social media influencers to help promote the video
3. Video launch party held in tandem with an information session on becoming a bike-friendly business
4. Creation of online bicycling route descriptions using the RideWithGPS Area Ambassador program
5. Development of a local network of bicycling groups

A case study on the Polk County community’s efforts to advance bicycle tourism was developed by Write to Know Consulting in January 2018.
