Greater Tualatin Valley
Tourism Experience Studio
The Greater Tualatin Valley Outdoor Recreation Tourism Studio focused on helping the Tualatin Valley communities of Vernonia, Banks, Forest Grove, Scappoose and Saint Helens develop their potential as an outdoor recreation destination by enhancing existing assets.
Greater Tualatin Valley Outdoor Recreation Tourism Studio highlights:
- 51 local tourism stakeholders and residents participated in a two-day workshop May 15-16, 2018 in Vernonia. Attendees learned about outdoor recreation asset identification, qualities of successful outdoor recreation tourism experiences, market trends and state tourism resources. Workshop notes, presentations, outreach materials and other resources can be viewed on the Greater Tualatin Valley Outdoor Recreation Tourism Studio Resources page.
- The Greater Tualatin Valley community received $70,000 from the Washington County Visitors Association to advance bicycle tourism projects in 2018.
Studio Outcomes & Success Stories:
- After identifying the curation, promotion and enhancement of adventure cycling routes as a priority during May’s outdoor recreation studio, the Greater Tualatin Valley community has completed an extensive bike hub installation project and the development of new cycle routes through the Ride With GPS Bicycle Ambassador Program. All new cycle routes are available on the Greater Tualatin Valley website.
