Regional Collaboration
Attendees of the Polk County Tourism Studio identified the need for stronger regional collaboration as a priority impact area for the destination. Initial project work focused on creating stronger alignment within the public and private sector tourism network.
Key project highlights include:
- Increased trust between local and regional stakeholders
- Development of a strong network of working relationships
- Collaborative funding of a University of Oregon Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) coordinator positions by the cities of Dallas, Monmouth and Independence in 2017 and 2018
- Leveraging local tourism funds to develop cost effective tourism marketing with Travel Salem
A case study on the Polk County community’s efforts to increase its regional collaboration was developed by Write to Know Consulting in January 2018.
