2024 Resident Sentiment Study

Travel Oregon conducts biannual resident sentiment studies in order to provide comprehensive, quantifiable measures of tourism impacts in Oregon. This statewide study measured residents’ quality of life, perceptions of how tourism impacts their wellbeing, and overall support for tourism in Oregon. Resident sentiment surveys enable us to lead with a stewardship approach and help us work towards sustainable tourism.

Travel Oregon surveyed residents across the state over a 5-week period in early 2024. Residents were asked to evaluate their perceptions of tourism and its economic, cultural, environmental and social impacts on their communities. Over 6,800 responses were collected with representation from all 36 Oregon counties to facilitate a statewide and regional approach that could further be analyzed at the local level.

Our findings suggest that residents in Oregon perceive that the benefits of tourism currently outweigh the drawbacks.

You can dive further into the results by viewing our report on statewide and regional findings, as well as visiting our interactive dashboard in which you can filter results by geographic level, demographic, and more. Both of these resources are linked above.
