Car-Free Transportation

Oregon has 10 cities rated by the League of American Bicyclists as Bicycle Friendly cities, and an ever increasing network of trails, connected pathways and Scenic Bikeways, all of which makes a trip by bicycle easier than ever. Travel Oregon is a founding partner in the Oregon Active Transportation Summit, which aims to promote alternate forms of transportation. Results of the summit include the development of RideOregonRide.com, a website devoted to cycling tourism; Share the Road license plates, a bicycle-themed license plate option that increases awareness of cyclists and pedestrians and raises funds for active transportation programs; and Oregon’s Scenic Bikeways, established cycling routes based on the popular scenic byways concept. The nation’s first Scenic Bikeway program is a cooperative effort among Cycle Oregon, Travel Oregon and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
