Tourism Declares, The Travel Foundation, Travel Oregon and the Oregon Coast Visitors Association invite you to co-host a Tourism and Climate Action watch party with your board of directors, key stakeholders and/or tourism leaders in your region on Oct. 12th from 4:00pm – 5:30pm Pacific Time.
A watch party is a great opportunity to bring together local stakeholders around insightful content, and allows for facilitated discussion around an important topic which requires industry engagement and collaboration. Climate change has the potential to significantly impact travel and tourism in the coming years, but our sector also has a tremendous opportunity to be a catalyst for change, and to do so it is imperative that we work closely together. You do not need to be an expert nor committed to a climate action plan to engage in this conversation.
During the watch party, a live stream will be provided to a keynote presentation given by Jeremy Sampson, CEO of the Travel Foundation, Chair of the Future of Tourism Coalition and Chair of the Destinations Working Group for Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency. Participating groups all along the West Coast will then be provided with facilitated discussion questions to help engage participants in thoughtful conversation about the topic of tourism and climate action. This watch party is part of the annual People’s Coast Summit and takes place one month before the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26 in Glasgow. Remaining relevant and forward-thinking is crucial for the tourism industry as we continue to face challenges together.
